Showmax 2024

Having worked extensively in satellite television, over 12 months in 2023/2024, I had the opportunity to work with the team at Showmax to relaunch their brand and platform.

Here’s what I learned.

Despite the world of streaming having its own language, culture and tech, it shares the same fundamental reality of its predecessor. Highly sophisticated engineering delivering experiential products, that primarily leverage human interest, to build a geographically diverse business.

That makes communicating the OTT proposition as challenging and dynamic as communicating a DTH offering.

Both package storytelling but each is under-pinned by the unique defining characteristics of its respective distribution models (eg. data consumption vs installation costs).

Once you understand those, interpreting communications principles from one environment to another becomes a matter of time, and focus.

This was a career highlight for me, an opportunity to direct my strategic insights and skill set from the satellite space into the streaming arena, and see them translate to deliver value.
